We are seeking a highly skilled database manager/ETL developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a group of developers, managing a MSSQL database, designing and running ETL processes, and creating custom SQL reports - many of which will be run on a regular basis. If you have experience with .NET web applications and exposure to data science, that would be a bonus!

Responsibilities:

Leadership~

As a Team Lead your key area of responsibility will be to assist in the day-to-day operations, coaching and mentorship of one of our growing technical team. You will leverage knowledge in front and back-end programming languages to lead/communicate requirements necessary to design, build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code to develop high throughput, performance critical, scalable applications. In addition, to also provide clear direction on all pertinent database management requirements following best practices always ensure critical processes are well documented.

  • Manage team with regards to task assignments, work arrangements and other Software Development Department expectations
  • Provide expert project-leadership and guidance to the team as a SME; Acting as point of contact for complaints and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Strong time management skills, with ability to work with aggressive deadlines when required
  • Ability to drive change with communication, influencing, leadership skills, & resource planning
  • Manage, measure, and change an Agile development process, e.g., SCRUM, Kanban
  • Collaborate with other development teams on design and implementation of features spanning multiple products
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and code reviews to ensure that code quality is maximized, and best practices are followed
  • Ability to interface with teams and customers to capture requirements, drive results, & build relationships
  • Provide afterhours support for production deployments, production downtime and installation of hardware

Development and Project Management:

  • Lead a team of developers, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Manage a MSSQL database, ensuring its performance, security, and integrity
  • Design and run ETL processes to move data between systems and formats
  • Develop custom SQL reports, many of which will be run on a regular basis
  • Collaborate with vendor teams to identify and resolve data-related issues
  • Monitor data quality, implement data cleansing and validation procedures
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and trends
  • Provide recommendations to improve data-related processes
  • Supporting technologies used to build business systems and applications that run the enterprise.

  • Web / Windows applications using C# .NET
  • ASP.NET Core, REST API
  • Azure App Service, Blob storage, Azure SQL
  • Web applications using ASP .NET MVC, HTML, and JavaScript
  • GIS and knowledge in Google Map plugins
  • Database tools
  • SPSS/ R/ Stats tool package awareness

Skill Set:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, with experience creating custom reports
  • Experience with SQL Server and Postgres database design, optimization and writing queries.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft based technologies (C# .Net) or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience working in a cloud environment (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Knowledge of front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/CSS, JavaScript, XML, ES6, jQuery) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Node.js, Vue.js) and experience with UI/UX design.
  • Proficiency in Git, or some other distributed source control tool, and are comfortable with resolving merge conflicts and renaming branches, etc

Education and/ or Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in database management and ETL development
  • Experience with MSSQL database administration
  • Experience with .NET web application development
  • Knowledge of ETL tools such as SSIS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Exposure to data science is a plus
  • Experience in real-estate / financial industry is an asset.
